A Chinese mainland woman was arrested at Hong Kong Chek Lap Kek Airport on Friday evening after trying to force her way through a security checkpoint without a boarding pass. In full view of a large crowd, the unidentified 45 year-old woman scuffled with three security guards who subdued her by pinning her to the ground. Once police arrived, she was arrested and taken into custody.

The woman and the three security guards all suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident. The security guards sustained injuries to their eyes, forearms and abdomens, and were all sent to hospital for treatment.

According to a spokesperson for Hong Kong Airport, the mainland Chinese woman arrived at the security checkpoint without a boarding pass, but insisted on going through anyway. After an argument, the scuffle broke out.

A number of mainland Chinese passengers have been involved in disputes at Hong Kong Airport as of late. This past July, six mainland Chinese passengers were arrested  after entering a restricted boarding area and were confronted by Hong Kong Airport staff, leading to a physical confrontation. While their airline explained the delay was due to bad weather, mainland Chinese passengers at the scene said they were being discriminated against by Hong Kong airport staff.

Last June, upset Hong Kong Airlines passengers from mainland China staged their own “Occupy” protest by refusing to leave a plane for 18 hours until their demands were met.
